Jason Fond, as the Director of Orthopedic Surgery at Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York, finds his job much easier if he can rely and trust all the medical professionals on his staff. He was deemed the perfect man for the directorship because he always showed a propensity to work well with other doctors, nurses, and specialists to form productive working relationships and help patients by working together, not against each other. This spirit of collaboration spills over to working with his patients as well. He values their input and only suggests invasive treatments such as surgery if they are absolutely necessary.

For Jason Fond, working well in teams is always a key part of his job. While some other doctors may scoff at the idea of sharing their work with other doctors, Dr. Fond embraces his role as a part of the team that is dedicated to better community health for the surrounding area of Nyack Hospital. Jason Fond has long been an advocate of collaboration between doctors, which was a huge deciding factor when he was made the Director of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Fond has used the help of many doctors over the years to treat his patients and provide the best service he possibly can. He sees other doctors and medical professionals such as nurses as resources that he can use to help his patients. He thinks others should be more welcoming of collaboration in the medical community.

Jason Fond still manages a private practice in the area called Northeast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, which was formed from several private practices in the area.

Jason Fond - Experienced Orthopedic Surgeon

Jason Fond is a skilled and experienced orthopedic surgeon working for Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York as the Director of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Fond has helped many patients from all walks of life in his private practices and in his duties for Nyack Hospital. It took him many years to reach the level of care that he can provide to his patients now, but all the effort and work was worth it. He loves helping people stay active after knee, ankle, and other joint injuries, as well as other conditions that affect ligaments, tendons, muscles, and joints.

In order to become an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jason Fond had to complete a bachelor’s degree, a medical degree, and an orthopedic residency. Jason Fond followed his required five-year orthopedic residency at the Montefiore Medical Center with a one-year residency in Sports Medicine at Georgetown University. Orthopedics is a medical specialty, and in order to be considered a practicing specialist in this area, doctors who have already earned their medical degrees have to work in a residency program to gain more experience and expertise in that specialized area. Medical specialists have the chance to work under experienced supervisors and doctors who know how to handle their specific area of medicine and get real-world experience with patients.

Jason Fond found a way to pass through medical school and all of his residency years in training so that he could help people play sports and stay active. As a former athlete with his own extensive injury history, Dr. Fond found his dream job.

Jason Fond - What is Orthopedics?

Jason Fond decided to make his mark in the local medical community in Rockland County, New York by studying Orthopedics. This is not an easy field to become proficient enough in to make a career. To be an orthopedic surgeon like Dr. Fond, medical students have to work for several years in a residency after they specialize in the medical field in medical school. Dr. Fond decided that he wanted to help people stay active and healthy, so he entered the orthopedic field. Since he completed his residency and education as an orthopedic surgeon, he has performed thousands of successful surgeries to repair damage to ligaments, tendons, muscles, joints, and more. He has also successfully treated injuries with far less invasive treatments, and remains committed to helping people recover from serious sports injuries and conditions using noninvasive treatments whenever possible.

Jason Fond is now the Director of Orthopedic Surgery at Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York in Rockland County. He took this position in 2007 after a long career in private practice in the area treating patients with orthopedic injuries and conditions. Over the years, Dr. Fond has worked with many different athletes and people who need to be able to lead active, healthy lifestyles. He is a former assistant trainer of the Washington Redskins and the Miami Marlins. His experience in orthopedic medicine is extremely extensive. Since 2014, Dr. Jason Fond has also worked as the President of Medical Staff at Nyack Hospital, a position he earned due to his prowess as a physician and his extensive and compassionate work with all of his patients.

But what is Orthopedics and why is it important? Orthopedics is a medical specialty that focuses entirely on injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. This system involves bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, and nerves that work in complex harmony to allow the body to move, work, and stay active. When the specialty was born, it was devoted to caring for children with limb and spine deformities, but over the years, orthopedics has expanded to help people of all ages, from children born with deformities to young athletes trying to recover from injuries and return to the field, and elderly people suffering from arthritis. Jason Fond is proud to be a part of this tradition.

Orthopedic surgeons treat orthopedic issues by diagnosing injuries and disorders that occur to the musculoskeletal system. During his early career, Jason Fond worked with athletes who needed treatment for injuries suffered on the baseball and football fields. Over time he began working to treat disorders and conditions in a variety of ways, including medication, surgery, and exercise routines designed to strengthen ligaments, tendons, muscles, and joints. He also works hard to provide his patients with information and treatment plans designed to prevent injuries and conditions to occur in the first place.

Jason Fond - Director of Orthopedic Surgery at Nyack Hospital

Jason Fond is an experienced orthopedic surgeon who has worked extensively in upstate New York for years. Dr. Fond also worked for several professional sports teams as an assistant trainer, including the Washington Redskins and the Miami Marlins. Dr. Fond became the Director of Orthopedic Surgery at Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York in 2007.

Since then, he has advocated for less invasive treatments for patients whenever possible and has operated on many people with tendon and joint conditions and injuries. Nyack Hospital has always been known as an excellent place to receive medical care of any kind, but since Dr. Fond took over as Director of Orthopedic Surgery in 2007, the facility has also become better known for its Orthopedic work.

Jason Fond has long offered advanced surgical skills along with an easy and relatable bedside manner. Dr. Fond takes all of his patients extremely seriously and always tries to work with them every step of the way on their treatment. While other doctors sometimes scoff at bedside manners and being relatable to patients, Dr. Fond knows that the key to developing effective treatment plans and forming diagnoses is to get the right information from all patients and to reassure them that the plan of action will work to help them overcome an injury or condition in their joints or tendons.

Jason Fond founded a private practice in the area where he worked for years on people with tendon and joint ailments. His experience taught him many things before he took over as a leader at Nyack Hospital. Dr. Fond played a variety of sports in high school and college and sustained many sports-related injuries.

He had spinal fusion surgery himself many years ago and knows how patients feel when they’re going in for treatment after a sports injury. Having been through many orthopedic treatments during his amateur sports career, Dr. Fond knows how to help patients relax when they’re in his examination room and make their own decision about whether or not to get surgery.

Jason Fond is committed to giving his patients the full range of treatment options as the Director of Orthopedic Surgery. If he believes that a patient can get the full range of benefits from a treatment plan that does not involve surgery, he will always recommend that plan. He wants to send athletes back to their sports better than before they were hurt any way he can.

His unique perspective and attitude made him a trusted orthopedic surgeon and physician in his community for years. He fits in perfectly as a leader at Nyack Hospital now because of his exquisite surgical skill and his experience helping people in the community continue to stay active and play the sports they love.

Jason Fond - Relieving Pain and Stress

Orthopedic conditions can include anything from something as seemingly minor as arthritis to something as serious as a fractured hip. Regardless of how seemingly minor the problem might be, all orthopedic conditions can cause major disruptions in one's life. This is part of the reason why Jason Fond believes that orthopedic surgeons are quality of life specialists whose goal is to help their patients live their lives unaffected by pain or immobility.

Anyone who has been sick or injured knows that the physical discomfort is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how being ill or hurt can make your life miserable. There are few things more frustrating than feeling like life is passing you by while you are lying in bed with a broken bone.

Jason Fond's career specialty is surgery, but he never tries to push patients into surgery. He realizes that the decision to undergo surgery is a personal one, one that a person needs to make on their own. If, after having listened to his explanation of the procedure and how it relates to their condition, the patient chooses not to undergo surgery, Jason Fond will work with them to help restore their previous quality of life.

No matter what his patient's particular condition is or what treatment options they decide upon, Jason Fond will do his best to help make sure his patients are able to return to the active lifestyles they knew prior to their condition.

Jason Fond - Combining Two Passions

Jason Fond began his medical training in 1991 when he enrolled in the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, but his medical aspirations truly began when he was a teenager. When he was still in high school, he sustained a serious back injury that required him to undergo spinal fusion surgery. This injury was sustained during the course of a diving accident. Such an injury might have proved discouraging for some people, but not for him. Indeed, not only was his passion for sports undiminished, but he’d found a new one as well: medicine.

After graduating from Tufts University, Jason Fond was accepted into the Albert Einstein School of Medicine at Yeshiva University. It was there that he began to realize his dream of combining his twin passions of sports and medicine into a career.

After receiving his M.D. in 1995, Jason Fond went onto attend two different residency programs before finding employment at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine where he worked to help injured athletes recover from their injuries and get back onto the field.

In addition to his career as an orthopedic surgeon, Jason Fond’s passion for sports shows in other aspects of his life as well. Many of his pastimes involve sports, such as golf or basketball, and he has served as a physician for several sports teams at the high school, collegiate and professional levels.

Jason Fond is one of those lucky individuals who has been able to combine two passions in order to build a successful career.

Jason Fond: TENEX Health TX

Jason Fond has been practicing medicine for 15 years and has seen numerous technological advances in the field of orthopedic surgery. One of the most promising ones he has seen is TENEX Health TX, which is used for treating the condition commonly known as tennis elbow.

Tennis elbow is a condition where the tendons in the elbow become stretched and worn out from persistent use. Previously, the only known way to treat the issue was to cut open the elbow and remove the damaged tissue. It was rather painful procedure with a recovery time of up to six weeks.

The TENEX Health TX system uses a hand-held instrument called the TX Micro Tip which uses ultrasonic energy to remove the damaged tissue. The previous treatment involved placing the patient under general anesthesia and cutting the elbow with a scalpel. Using the TX Micro Tip, Jason Fond places the patient under local anesthesia and uses the device to remove the damaged tissue. The procedure only takes about 20 minutes and recovery time is generally short with patients being able to function completely normally within about six weeks or less.

The TENEX Health TX system is fairly new technology and Jason Fond was one of the first surgeons to make use of it. He is currently training other surgeons to use it as well, as he feels it is a much better option for patients and doctors alike because it gives the same results of the previous surgery with much less pain and a far shorter recovery time.

Jason Fond - A Career in Sports Medicine

Jason Fond is an award-winning orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the area of sports medicine and orthopedic surgery.  Sports medicine is an area of medicine that focuses on seeing to the medical needs of athletes and others who live active lifestyles. Like many practice areas within medicine, it can be either curative or preventive in its approach to injury and different professionals within the field will focus on different areas. Jason Fond's career as a surgeon puts him into a curative role where he works to help athletes make a safe recovery.

Despite its name, sports medicine can, can be of benefit to non-athletes as well. Oftentimes, people who have suffered from debilitating injuries such as those sustained in a car wreck or from a disease such as a stroke will seek the aid of a medical professional within the area of sports medicine to help them regain full motor control.  Jason Fond's career as an orthopedic surgeon gives him the opportunity to help everyone from injured athletes to people suffering from various degenerative diseases and other issues that can affect the muscular system.

Those interested in a career in sports medicine have a wide variety of career paths open to them. Some people in the industry, such as Jason Fond, are medical doctors who specialize in helping athletes recover from their injuries.  But those seeking to work in the field of sports medicine have many options available to them, such as working as a nutritionist, exercise physiologists and others.

A nutritionist understands that the things we put in our body can have a major impact on our overall health and wellbeing. Nutritionists often work with athletes in order to help them develop healthy diets that will complement their exercise program in order to get the most out of their athletic careers.

Exercise physiologists have a number of career options open to them involving everything from evaluating a person's metabolic function to administrating exercise stress tests. But in the area of sports medicine they often work as athletic trainers helping to develop customized workout plans in order to help their patients best achieve their athletic goals.

These are just a few of the options available to those who wish to pursue a career in the field of sports medicine. However, all of the specialists in this field, from surgeons like Jason Fond to nutritionists, have one thing in common. They all have a passion for sports and for helping athletes achieve their full potential.

This compassion for helping others is something Jason hopes to pass on to his children.

From a young age, Dr. Jason Fond has been active in sports. As an orthopedic sports medicine physician, Dr. Fond has been able to translate that passion into treating team members on professional and college level teams. This excitement and love for sports has transferred to his children as they all enjoy a love of sports and have learned the valuable lesson of teamwork and healthy competition. Dr. Fond is excited about his children’s love of sports and can be found coaching their various sports teams on the weekends.

Maintaining his Integrity Throughout his Career

The personal integrity and morals of those in the medical field are extremely important. To build trust with their patients, they have to be honest in their practice and be of strong moral character. Dr. Jason Fond, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician in Nanuet, New York, exemplifies these traits in his daily practice.

Ever since Dr. Jason Fond injured himself in a diving accident as a teenager, he has had the desire to help others in need. After undergoing spinal surgery to have several of his vertebrae fused together, Dr. Fond knew he wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon. Armed with the knowledge that orthopedics plays a huge role in providing patients with treatments to bring them personal happiness and well-being, Dr. Fond pursued an education in orthopedic medicine.

Upon completion of his education, Dr. Jason Fond opened his practice and set about providing exceptional care to his patients. He utilizes his past experiences to provide compassion and empathy to his patients and give them the one-on-one attention, both before and after their procedures, which they deserve.

Dr. Jason Fond is committed to his patients and works hard to find non-surgical treatments before resorting to surgery. He focuses on innovative procedures that are less invasive to save his patients time, money, and the pain from long recovery often associated with traditional surgeries. Dr. Fond treats every patient with respect and is empathetic to their situation, making him an orthopedic surgeon with integrity and one that can be trusted to do what is right.

Jason Fond - Finding Time to Enjoy His Hobbies

Dr. Jason Fond is a well-known and highly respected orthopedic surgeon from Nanuet, New York. As an owner and partner of Northeast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Rockland County, Dr. Fond is kept busy. To maintain a healthy work/life balance, he is committed to spending time doing the things he enjoys.

Growing up Dr. Jason Fond was extremely active in sports. This passion influenced his decision to become an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician. As a teenager, Dr. Fond suffered a devastating injury while diving, resulting in spinal surgery, during which several of his vertebrae had to be fused together. This injury didn’t stop Dr. Fond, and soon after his recovery he was back to participating in the sports he loved.

As an adult, Dr. Jason Fond still enjoys participating in sports like basketball and golf, as well as watching them whenever he has the chance and bringing his children along as a way to share his passion. He also coaches them in their various sports activities. Dr. Fond’s family also enjoys the performing arts and cooking together as a family.

Another passion that Dr. Jason Fond always finds time for, is volunteering at local charitable organizations. Dr. Fond uses his medical knowledge and skills to help those in need that can’t afford to pay for medical services. He believes that to create a well-balanced and meaningful life, you have to give back to your community. Dr. Fond says that helping those in his community that are less fortunate then he is, gives him a sense of pride and is the least he can do for his community.

Jason Fond

Dr. Jason Fond possesses a bedside manner and attention to his patients rarely seen in surgeons. Having suffered a previous injury that resulted in surgery, Dr. Jason Fond is able to put himself in the patient’s shoes, providing attentiveness and empathy that is easily felt and often remarked upon. For Dr. Jason Fond, patient peace of mind is a top priority.

Jason Fond - Working for Nyack Hospital

Jason Fond became the Director of Orthopedic Surgery at Nyack Hospital in 2007 after a career working in the upstate New York area helping patients heal their tendon and joint injuries and conditions and allowing them to return to an active lifestyle. Dr. Fond also worked with many athletes over the years with their tendon and joint issues.

He was the assistant trainer for professional sports teams for years, including the Washington Redskins and the Miami Marlins. Throughout his career, he has assisted in getting people healthy enough to participate in the sport of their choice at almost any level. Throughout his career, Dr. Fond has performed thousands of successful surgeries that have helped athletes of all levels, from high school to Olympic, return to their sport and perform well.

Jason Fond accepted the Director of Orthopedic Surgery job at Nyack after helping thousands of athletes get back on the field and assist patients who simply want to alleviate pain in their joints and tendons to remain active in their lifestyle. Dr. Fond relates to his patients at Nyack well because he has gone through much of what they have. Fond himself suffered spinal fusion due to sports trauma he went through as a young athlete playing sports.

He knows that pain in the joints and tendons can add to stress levels and make an injury worse, increasing recovery time and making an athlete less likely to fully recover. To help reduce stress and pain in his patients, over the years he has developed an excellent and open bedside manner.

He relates to his patients and always tries to keep them calm. He works closely with all of his patients to develop the best treatment plans and explain his reasoning so they don’t have to worry. Dr. Fond also makes a point to avoid invasive treatments like surgery if at all possible. If surgery is necessary to return a patient to his or her desired activity level, Dr. Fond is one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the area.

Jason Fond fits in well with Nyack Hospital’s commitment to excellence and its mission to treat all patients with respect and dignity. He makes all of his patients feel at home and welcome at Nyack and does his best to represent the values that the hospital strives to instill.

Dr. Fond has long been a part of the surrounding community and his position as the Director of Orthopedic Surgery allows him to be a prominent leader of the community and the Nyack family. Nyack’s mission is to provide the citizens of Rockland County with comprehensive and accessible emergency and acute care they can count on. Dr. Jason Fond fits in well with that vision and his leadership at the hospital is a huge asset.

An Interview with Dr. Jason Fond regarding being a team physician

Question: Dr. Jason Fond have you served as a physician for sports teams?

Dr. Fond: During my fellowship, I was an assistant team physician for the Washington Redskins. I participated in the care of high-level NFL players on and off the field. Currently, I am the team physician at Dominican College and St. Joseph’s High School in New Jersey.

Question: Dr. Fond, describe your work with the Miami Marlins.

Dr. Fond: For the past five years I’ve been a consultant for the MLB team the Miami Marlins. In this capacity I am involved in the decision making process with respect to the athletes and their injuries.

Question: Dr. Fond how do you help high school athletes as a team physician?

Dr. Fond: As a team doctor for St. Joseph’s High School in New Jersey, I attend the team’s football games and provide medical care on and off the field. I also work hand in hand with the team trainer to help prepare athletes for competitive play. The team has been ranked highest in the state several years running.

Question: Dr. Fond, what advice do you give to team athletes as a team doctor?

Dr. Jason Fond: As a team doctor for both professional and high-school teams, I tell players to get in shape to play sports rather than play sports to stay in shape. They need to do strength training and flexibility exercises to prevent injury.

An Interview with Dr. Jason Fond Regarding Types of Injuries He Treats

Question: Dr. Jason Fond what are the most common injuries you treat?

Dr. Fond: Injuries range from overuse conditions such as tendinitis, to acute problems such as ligament tears and tendon ruptures. Injuries I see in the ER, as a surgeon, are more traumatic, including fractures that require urgent treatment. The goal is to treat patients conservatively and use surgery as a last resort.

Question: Dr. Fond, You specialize in shoulder and knee injuries, describe the most common shoulder and knee injuries you treat?

Dr. Jason Fond: One of the most common shoulder injuries I treat is a rotator cuff tear. The rotator cuff is a collection of 4 tendons that functions to lift the arm and is important with respect to balance of the shoulder joint. Rotator cuff injuries can frequently be treated conservatively with physical therapy or injections. However, if the tear is significant, many patients may benefit from surgical repair. The procedure is commonly performed in a minimally invasive manner and is typically very successful.

The patient typically requires rehabilitation postoperatively. With respect to the knee, injuries to the meniscus, or cartilage, are very common. These injuries occur by acute trauma or repetitive activities. Because these tears do not commonly heal, they typically require surgical removal of the torn fragment. In some cases, the tear can be repaired. The surgery is arthroscopic and is performed in an outpatient setting. The patient can typically return to activities in a few weeks.

Jason Fonds Article for Nyack Hospital

In the beginning of 2014, Dr. Jason Fond wrote an article that would be published on Nyack Hospital’s website. Jason Fond is a physician at Nyack Hospital in New York. Jason Fond works as the President of the medical staff at the hospital, and has been on staff for nearly a decade.

The article Jason Fond contributed to Nyack Hospital’s website was on injuries that are common to female teenage athletes and how those injuries are best prevented. The article by Jason Fond also features a section in which options for treatment of injuries that have already occurred are highlighted. Jason Fond’s article focuses largely on ACL issues. The ACL is a ligament in the knee which can commonly be torn by teenage girls during sports.

According to Dr. Jason Fond’s article, these injuries are common in this demographic because of the nature of high school sports. High school sports, such as track and field, baseball, basketball, football, and soccer among others, all involve a high frequency of running and jumping. Running is a very high impact activity, so those regularly participating in the sports are prone to injuries of this type. Dr. Jason Fond’s article recommends specialized training to strengthen the muscles surrounding the ACL, adding protection to the vulnerable fiber and allowing high impact activity without the same level of injury risk. Jason Fond specializes in sports injury treatment, and has extensive experience treating high school and college-aged athletes. Jason Fond has worked both as a professional team physician, a high school team physician, and a college team physician and assistant professor.

Jason Fonds Academic Appointments

As a student who was successful throughout his academic career, it’s not a surprise that Jason Fond went on to do work within the academic sphere himself.

Jason Fond was born in 1969 in New York. After he finished high school, Jason Fond began his university studies at Tufts College in 1987. After he finished his bachelor’s program, Jason Fond began studying medicine formally at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and graduated in 1995. Jason Fond’s Orthopedic Surgery Residency was conducted at Montefiore Medical Center, and he rounded out his studies with a fellowship at Georgetown University in Arlington, Virginia.

Once his formal studies were complete, Jason Fond progressed into the field as an orthopedic surgeon, and later earned appointments as an educator at academic institutions.

Dr. Jason Fond works at the Dominican College in New York as an Assistant Clinical Professor as well as a team physician for their various sports teams. Dr. Fond has served the college well, addressing injuries incurred by its players throughout the sports and practice seasons and passing on his expertise to the students he has taught.

Dr. Jason Fond also works as the team physician for St. Joseph’s Regional High School in New Jersey. As a New Jersey raised and educated man, Jason Fond was happy to give back his experience to the state in which he spent his childhood.
